The genre of this student film is a thriller. We know this because there is a chase in the opening sequence to this student film, Sespite being a chase that is low in adrenaline compared to other thrillers we know this student film is a thriller because a chase is generic convection of a thriller.
We know that in this student film there is a woman who plays the victim. We also know that there is a male antagonist in this student film. We only know of these to characters because they are the only two characters who feature in this opening. In this student film the antagonist wears dark clothing this has connotations of his dark medsterious character
Stundent film doesn't feature many fast cuts. This is common in thrillers which do not begin with a high adrenaline chase or fight scene. A voice over is used to set the theme of the student film. This is because she says she is a fighter, this combined with the fact that she is running from someone tells us that this thriller is about someone trying to evade someone. One of the two things which 'bugs' me in this opening sequence is the poor match on action where we see a two shot of the woman with the man approaching in the background, then we cut to the mans point of veiw and back to the two shot which starts on the same frame as which we left it. The music used in this student film builds up tension which is also another indication of this film being a thriller.
In this student film a variety of camera angles are used. For example there are tracking mid shots on the upper and/or ower body of the woman and the male antagonist tracking their movememt, this is done to amplify the distance traveled by the woman. Long shots are also used to amplify the distance traveled by the woman. Another angle used is a handheld shot, this angle is used to give us the view point of the antagonist.
The titles in this clip are not intergrated with whats going on onscreen. Instead they are intigrated with the voiceover. The order of the titles is the other main thing that 'bugs' me about this student film. This is becaues the titles are in the wrong order. Evidence of this is that the director is always the last title in a opening sequence, however in this film it is the third title we see.
